About Me
I love meeting new people at the maintenance classes. I enjoy hearing all your stories about how you aquired your machine! :)
About Me:
Angel Herring has been an award-winning elementary school teacher for 18 years and has a Masters degree in technology.
She took up sewing after her father passed because she wanted to make a quilt of his clothes.
She holds several educational certifications and has won many awards for teaching such as the Red Apple award from KHOU and the Educator of the Year from the Children's Museum of Houston.
In November 2023, I won 1st place in the Novice category for my quilt called, "My Best Furry Friend" which I made for my beloved Gizmo. I sewed the entire quilt on my 222 Featherweight made in 1957. I also did the free motion quilting on it as well. Click HERE for photos and details.
She is passionate about all things Featherweight. She is member of the Baytown Area Quilt Guild. Her hobbies include spending time with her new husband and Gizmo (her fur baby), sewing, quilting, painting, and sharing her knowledge with others.
This was my first Featherweight, "Wilma". I plugged it into my truck to see if it worked!
Who I am?
I love all things that are vintage from clothes and furniture to pin cushions and sewing machines. My favorite color is purple. My little side kick is Gizmo the Human Dog and he is willing to try out any of my sewing creations.
The pillow pouf below is a class that I teach at local quilt shops. Let me know if you are interested in having this class at your location. It is a day of fun with a Dresden ruler!
I like working on small projects such as the jacket or a quilt that has meaning to me. I do have a graduate degree in technology and love using tech when possible. During the school year I am a second grade teacher at the local school district and love teaching the little ones. They are full of surprises and keep me on my toes.
During my spare time I enjoy spending time with Gizmo and my new husband, sewing, painting, teaching Featherweight maintenance class, and collecting autographs of famous people such as country music stars.
I LOVE ALL THINGS VINTAGE!
